Honda ignition amplifiers (igniters) use opposite polarity to most common igniters. If the G4X CivicLink (95) or CivicLink (98) Plug-In ECU is fitted before it is correctly configured it is possible to damage the ignition coil and/or the igniter. The ECU should be shipped with the correct option selected but it is the installers responsibility to confirm ignition setup.

The ignition coil MUST be disconnected during installation until the ECU is correctly configured.

The ignition coil can usually be disconnected by unplugging the wiring to the distributor.
